It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2017 Minds in Motion KW Walking Classic.  Lacking a sustainable solution for our initiative, our volunteer-based committee is suffering from persistent burnout and is no longer able to continue.

The most difficult part of this decision is the impact that it will have on the fund raising focus of providing custom-fitted shoes for those who are managing their ongoing mental health challenges with exercise. We remain hopeful that another source of funding be found to continue with this critically important task.

We are thankful for the support that we have received from walking enthusiasts throughout Ontario, Canada and internationally. Special thanks to the countless volunteers who gave their time for this unique event and whose efforts have established a legacy of inspiration for the community.

Would you consider donating to our shoe fund?  All donations will continue to be accepted from this website.  The connection between mental wellness and physical activity is well established.  Our shoe recipients take part in walking groups and fitness activities throughout the region.  Please continue to support their efforts to maintain their mental health. To donate, use the Donate to Minds in Motion button above.

In Their Own Words…

“I received my first pair of running shoes in February of 2009, after connecting with the People in Motion wellness program. Here was a group that accepted me as I was — no questions about labels and psychiatric history. We were simply people walking together, learning to enjoy a healthier way of life.”

“By the grace of God, I’ve been given a new lease on life. It’s not always easy, but with the help of a strong support system, and an expanded circle of friends, I’m continuing to move forward. And to think – it all began with the gift of a brand new pair of running shoes. Thank you!”
