The Walking Classic Race

A “walking classic” is the official term for a competitive walking race event. The Minds In Motion K W Walking Classic is the first event of its kind in Canada.

Whether walking for fun or to beat your best time, the Walking Classic is a great event for everyone!

Typically, walkers who wish to enter races find themselves with no other option but to share the course with runners – a sport governed by an entirely different set of techniques and rules. The Walking Classic gives participants the opportunity to compete only against other walkers, within a variety of age groups and distances. More importantly, the Walking Classic supports individuals facing mental health challenges who are interested in becoming physically active.

Walkers can sign up for 5k, 10k, or half-marathon routes, can register either as individuals or as teams, and are eligible for a series of prizes. The race is timed with a chip mechanism for start-to-finish time accuracy.

No matter what time is achieved or what distance crossed, every participant receives a medal in recognition of their achievement of that day, and all the days that led up to getting them across the finish line.
